Great awards show from Nashville tonight. Buddy Miller was the big winner, garnering both Instrumentalist of the year and Artist of the year. Robert Plant won Album of the year for Band of Joy. Mumford & Sons won the Emerging Artist award (was there any doubt). Song of the year went to Justin Townes Earle for Harlem River Blues. Lifetime awards were given to Greg Allman, Jerry Douglas, Lucinda Williams, and Rick Hall. What a great year for Americana Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not exactly the start we were looking for was it? Mother Nature can rain all over baseball's parade but nothing can stop Americana Man! Thank you to everyone that's been tuning in, I'm greatful to you. Don't forget you can check out the podcast of any of these shows right here on the website. I'd also like to remind you that I'm on 3 times a week now. 1PM on Wednesday I'm doing a show that I call "Americana Man's Eclectic Chair", which allows me to flush out the playlist a bit more. I'll be playing all sorts of music over this 2 hour show but it will still be rooted in Americana music. Friday at 2 AM and Saturday at 5 AM will continue to be 1 hour programs that highlight the best in alternative country with nods to the old school legends and even some classic rock with a bent towards the southern. I find it hard to believe that in a world filled with famine, war, and tyranny the only thing most Americans seem to care about is that Facebook changed. Stop whining people and use all that energy to make a positive change in the real world. Watch the Republican debates and realize one of these crackpots may soon have a chance to run our country. You can pretend it's X-Factor if you like. Oh well, what do I know, I just run a little radio show that no one listens to or cares about. Even the artists I play on the show don't care and don't even get me started on the record companies! Just in from seeing the Smithereens in Edmonds, Wa., it was a pretty good night. Some drunk guy managed to get backstage and then onstage with the band where he sang, "Wild Thing" before security figured out he was not with the band and knew no one in the band. Went to see George Thorogood tonight at a casino here in Western Washington and had a great night. The tickets were comps and you just can't beat a free show on a summer night. So we're halfway through July and the high temp for the day here in Everett was 66. It's been raining for the last few days and is most likely going to continue raining into Saturday, before finally stopping on Sunday. I've been waiting for 3 months for this weekends BoDeans concert and Mother Nature decides to rain all over my parade. It's bad enough to have to sit in the rain all night but you'd expect to at least be warm wouldn't you?!! On the bright side at least I'm still unemployed. Discovered a new band this week and scrambled to get them added to the show. The Sumner Brothers are a great band from Vancouver, BC and I was lucky enough to catch them live.
